LOCATIONS

Welcome to the Coffee Break, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Isla Mujeres at Matamoros 15, Centro. This quaint coffee shop has quickly become a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike, famed not just for its exceptional brews, but for creating a cozy respite from the daily grind.

As you step inside, or settle into the charming outdoor seating under a sun-kissed palapa, you'll be met with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafting through the air. Mrs. A Ariana raved about the "great frappe" and a "fresh chocolate muffin" that made her coffee experience memorable. In fact, the quality of pastries is a consistent highlight, with early birds like Ivana Djekovska swearing it's the best breakfast spot in Isla. Baguettes and pastries are baked fresh each morning, guaranteeing that every bite is as delightful as the last.

One of the standout features of the Coffee Break is their inventive twist on coffee—using coffee ice cubes instead of water. As Kali Balducci expressed, this little touch elevates even the simplest orders, enhancing flavor and freshness. Their Dalgona coffee, recommended by Yumiko Scintu, is a masterpiece; a luxurious blend of milk and coffee cream that will tantalize any coffee aficionado's palate.

The ambience is equally inviting. A peaceful seating area, which Kali Balducci describes as "peaceful and comfortable," is perfect for unwinding or enjoying casual conversations. The family-run nature of the business endears the owners to customers, with enthusiastic praise echoing from Ashley Gnika who treasures the warmth and friendliness that permeates the shop. The resident cats lounging nearby add a homey touch, creating a relaxed environment that invites lingering.

the Coffee Break is more than just a coffee shop; it's a community hub where every sip of coffee and bite of pastry fosters connection. Their menu features delightful combinations of meats and cheeses on freshly baked baguettes, served hot and ready to savor, making it truly ideal for snack lovers or anyone in need of a quick bite. Each component is crafted with care, ensuring that quality is never compromised, even as prices remain friendly.

Next time you find yourself in Isla Mujeres, take a moment to indulge in the warmth and flavor at the Coffee Break. It’s not just a place to grab coffee; it’s an experience that will leave your heart as full as your stomach.

Seriously my favorite coffee out of anywhere I've been. I love that they use coffee for their ice cubes instead of water. The pastries are also always fresh and yummy. The back seating area is so peaceful and comfortable. The resident cats are adorable too!

Probably the best place in Isla for breakfast! Good prices for baguettes. Go early around 8 am if you want fresh pastries. The service is excellent!

RECOMMEND. Very nice and professional team. The coffee is great and the food too. It’s not a restaurant so if you want a fancy place or a workspace area, it’s not it.

I highly recommend ordering the Dalgona. We had it cold, over coffee ice cubes (genius!), with milk and coffee mixed with sugar into a luscious coffee cream. Being Italian, I’m naturally very fussy about my coffee, but this was just amazing!!! They bake pastries fresh every morning at 6am. The owner is very kind :) love this place

This is a small family run business making absolutely the best coffee on the island!! And so reasonably priced. My husband and I love our coffee. We went here every day, except Sundays when they’re closed, at least once a day. I mean everyone needs a little strong Americano in the morning and a mochaccino in the afternoon right Or you can just go ahead and order one of each at the same time, just drink the ice blended one first that there is a pro tip. The owners are absolutely the nicest people ever! Their new location is so wonderful for them, and much better for the customers who like to chitchat. Not that standing in the heat on the sidewalk at their old location deterred me in anyway from chatting them up but it’s such a quaint little coffee shop. Fun to go in and see the coffee being made. I feel like I’m in Italy. There are a couple of seats inside their air-conditioned shop and some lovely Palapa seating just outside. A real family run business making delicious coffee, pastries and baguettes. You can get a variety of different meat and cheese combinations on their freshly baked baguettes or bagels. It’s not a huge sandwich, just the right size for one person. Or little snacky snack for 2. Again so reasonably priced. You have to wait, because they make them fresh to order. Comes hot off the super legit panini press. If you’re not staying nearby, go ahead and start eating that sandwich right away. You’ll thank me later for that tip! .....We visited in March 2022. So please keep in mind that their menu prices are subject to change. Everyone knows the price of absolutely everything is going up
